The Cultural Media archive presents Crossing Over: Basketball on the Border of Community. This brief journey into Los Angeles’ Oaxacan community explores the use of basketball as a cultural practice and the many ways in which the popular sport is used to maintain ties to traditional cultural practices. Crossing Over is the first of many forth coming visual ethnographies from the Cultural Media Archive and begins a tradition of first person story telling with both an academic and applied anthropological focus.
